CHRONIC & RECURRENT PAIN

Beyond recurring discomfort.
Rebuild confidence in movement.

Pain affecting work, sleep or exercise? We listen to your full history, considering function, activity load and daily rhythms to create a sustainable plan.

Illustrative persistent pain scene
01 / YOUR EXPERIENCE

Start with what you want to improve.

  • Persistent or recurring muscle and joint discomfort in one or several areas.
  • Symptoms return with work or activity after temporary relief.
  • Fear of painful movement leads to reduced activity or confidence.

We first understand your situation and goals, then recommend appropriate assessment, treatment or referral.

Persistent Pain & Functional Recovery

Following individual assessment, we can offer treatment, exercise or rehabilitation support for:

Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain

Including recurrent neck, shoulder, back and joint symptoms, with plans informed by existing diagnoses, ability and everyday impact.

Myofascial Pain & Tender Points

Assessing muscle and fascial tension, tenderness and movement responses, combining relaxation and functional training. Tenderness alone cannot establish a cause.

Load Management & Graded Activity

Adjusting activity and recovery to tolerance, progressively building strength, endurance and confidence.

Movement Relearning & Neuromuscular Control

Individually appropriate practice to improve muscle coordination and movement strategies, carrying skills into everyday life.

02 / ASSESSMENT

Understand the person behind persistent pain.

Recurring pain can involve conditions, physical capacity, load, sleep and stress. It does not necessarily mean ongoing tissue damage, and cannot be attributed solely to posture or previous treatment.

Symptoms & Daily Experience

Reviewing changes in pain, previous care, work impact and meaningful activities.

Movement & Compensation

Observing strength, mobility and movement strategies to identify areas for improvement.

Activity & Recovery

Considering cycles of excessive activity and prolonged rest, or long-term avoidance due to fear of pain.

Breathing, Sleep & Stress

Understanding influences on comfort and recovery, with support or referral as needed.

03 / YOUR PLAN

A clear purpose for treatment and practice.

Relief & Reassurance

Treatment, relaxation and breathing where appropriate, starting at a tolerable level.

Progressively Rebuild Movement

Manageable practice to develop control, strength and activity, monitoring responses afterwards.

Develop Daily Management Skills

Adjusting habits and activity rhythms, with practical home exercises and simple tools where useful.

Angles, support, resistance, repetitions and tempo are adjusted to ability and response. Images are illustrative; specific exercises follow assessment.

04 / PROGRESS

Bring progress into everyday life.

We review activity time, participation, recovery and confidence as well as pain. Setbacks prompt adjustments together, rather than treating progress as lost.

Record consistently. Review regularly.

We record treatment, exercises, responses and challenges, using reassessment and team case discussion to guide ongoing adjustments.

05 / QUESTIONS

Questions you may have.

Is there always one hidden root cause?

There may be one or several contributing factors, or further assessment may be needed. We explain observations and uncertainty honestly, working progressively on what can improve.

Can breathing exercises replace other treatments?

Breathing is one possible component, alongside activity, strength, lifestyle changes and necessary medical care.

Should I stop all activity when symptoms recur?

Activity type, intensity and timing are usually adapted to symptoms and assessment, rather than automatically stopping everything.
